Background:
We received a request from the client’s L&D team to create an eLearning course based on two of their existing classroom courses. Our goal was to develop engaging eLearning content that would captivate and intrigue the learners. Additionally, we needed to incorporate some short video lectures compiled by the L&D team.
Target Audience:
The audience consisted of aspiring managers with no prior experience in project management. They needed to understand not only their roles and responsibilities but also how to resolve conflicts within their teams.
Challenge:
The provided materials were sufficient to build an eLearning course that could potentially last two hours. However, mid-level managers could not spend a considerable amount of time on a single learning session, whether in the classroom or online.
Strategy:
I recommended creating bite-sized courses by breaking the materials into meaningful chunks of content. I proposed editing and structuring the content based on distinct objectives, ensuring that the seat time for each course would be no more than 15 minutes. The audience could take the courses in any order they preferred, as the eLearning modules would function as standalone units within one curriculum. This approach would allow users to balance their time between projects and training while giving them adequate time for reflection before proceeding to the next module.
I presented mock-up pages with options using two different styles of media assets: graphics and images/icons.
Execution:
During the tendering process, I worked on creating the storyboards. I designed the layout for all the pages (samples added below) and then recreated them in Articulate Storyline. The creation of a fully functional sample with a rationale for the strategy was appreciated by the client, and we won the bid. Four months later, the course was successfully deployed for the audience.
